Itinerary
DAY 1: Ivato Airport / Antananarivo
- Welcome at Ivato Airport (depending on flight schedule).
- Transfer to the hotel.
- Full board or half board (depending on arrival time) and overnight at Hotel Le Colbert.
DAY 2: Antananarivo / Miandrivazo
- Drive to Miandrivazo. Miandrivazo is known as the hottest town in Madagascar, with almost no wind due to its geographical location. It is also the starting point for descending the Tsiribihina River by canoe, an unforgettable experience. From the upper part of town, enjoy a panoramic view of the valley where the Sakeny, Mahajo, and Manio rivers join the Tsiribihina.

DAY 3: Miandrivazo / Malaimbandy / Makay
- Drive to Malaimbandy, then 2 to 3 hours on rough tracks to reach the northern base of the Makay massif (starting point of the expedition).
- Picnic lunch on the way.
- Dinner and overnight in bivouac.
DAY 4 - Day 8: Makay
- 5 days trekking in the northern Makay massif, 6 to 7 hours walking per day. The Makay massif, southwest Madagascar, is one of the island’s last unexplored areas. This hiking circuit immerses you in this extraordinary and off-the-beaten-path region, ideal for lovers of wide-open spaces and trekking. Its unique geography of sandstone massifs, forests, and lakes makes it inaccessible and hosts exceptional endemic flora and fauna. Discover the biodiversity including parrots and birds of prey such as buzzards, kites, and striped polyboroids.

DAY 9: Makay / Antsirabe
- After breakfast, drive to Antsirabe. Visit Lake Tritriva, located southwest of Antsirabe. Surrounded by myths and mysteries, it fascinates especially those who love tragic love stories. Legend says two star-crossed lovers ended their lives there. Its dark waters add to the mysterious feeling visitors have.
- Once at the top of Mount Tritriva, enjoy the breathtaking view.
- Picnic lunch.
- Dinner and overnight at Royale Palace.
DAY 10: Antsirabe / Antananarivo / Ivato Airport
- After breakfast, departure to Antananarivo. If the flight schedule allows, visit the Blue Hill “Ambohimanga” for an introduction to the royal history of the Merina Kingdom.
- Lunch at a restaurant.
- Visit the Digue artisanal market in the afternoon.
- After dinner, transfer to the airport (depending on flight schedule).
