Itinerary
DAY 1: Nosy Be / Ambanja
- Welcome at Nosy Be airport.
- Fast boat crossing to Ankify port.
- Departure by car to Ambanja.
- Visit to cacao and perfume plant plantations to see those who develop the Sambirano Valley, where the process of transforming cacao beans is explained. Take the opportunity to participate in making artisanal chocolate by following the different transformation steps: sorting beans, roasting, crushing, sieving, conching, and molding, followed, of course, by a tasting.
- Lunch on site.
- Dinner and overnight at Vel Lodge hotel.
DAY 2: Ambanja / Ambobaka / Ambanja
- This tour allows you to discover Upper Sambirano with its vast cacao plantations, rice fields, and small villages. An economic powerhouse of the region, it is also a real water tower that irrigates the entire valley. Immersion in the Sambirano Valley. Ambobaka is a village known for being a center of traditional medicine. A lineage of healers practice ancestral knowledge that allows them to heal using plants and various massage techniques.
- Boat ride along the Ramena River.
- Picnic and swimming under the waterfalls and in the pools of the "Bons Pères" cascade.
- Picnic lunch on site.
- In the afternoon, return on the track passing by Ambanja bridge to admire the colors of the sunset over the Sambirano River.
- Dinner and overnight at Vel Lodge hotel.
DAY 3: Ambanja / Antsahampano / Ambanja
- This tour allows you to discover the mangrove, whose role is essential for Madagascar’s west coast as it protects it from erosion while serving as a nursery for many marine species.
- Transfer to the end of the track crossing the plantations of Lower Sambirano to reach the sea. Former colonial outpost, the village of Antsahampano and its port are nestled in the heart of a vast mangrove.
- Depending on the tides, alternately: exploration by boat through the labyrinth of mangroves and walking visit to replant some of these strange trees, both terrestrial and aquatic.
- Lunch prepared with products from traditional fishing.
- Return at dusk in the scents of perfume plants.
- Dinner and overnight at Vel Lodge hotel.
DAY 4: Ambanja / Nosy Be
- Departure by car to Ankify port.
- Fast boat crossing to Nosy Be port.
- Transfer to the airport.
